The June outing was up on Mount Hood and was a gorgeous morning to be out. There were no silver US coins found at the outing, but found a silver Canadian dime. Some sterling jewelry was found, but it looked like we were a couple of weeks late to find the bonanza of stuff in the snow. Dick's most trash half went to Mary Sparks.

July

by Tom Smith

The July outing was at Leverich park in Vancouver, WA. It was another beautiful day for scanning the hard ground, but there were plenty of trees to keep the sun directly off the back and keep it a bit cooler. There were two gold rings found during the day, a nice gold band by Mike Young and a small 10k ring with green stone found by Mike Maxon. Great job. There were also three sterling rings, two Mercury dimes and two Roosevelt dimes found. But Ruth Kosto made the find of the day by finding a small cache that was put there by a group of GPS people. Apparently, the club puts caches across the country for people to find, dig up, sign in and leave something behind before reburying it. Ruth signed in and returned it to its place after count out for someone else to find. Jim Cornwall and Arnie Mauroni found the RAM nickels to take the halves and Greg Hubbard picked up the most trash for the trash half. The halves were donate by Dick Gaboury.

October

by Tom Smith

The October outing was at Arbor Lodge Park in North Portland. It was a cold and blustery winter day to be out detecting, but 23 brave souls came out to give the park a scan. Todd Mullican made the find of the day by finding a nice patented 1875 lock that he recovered from the dirt under the bark chip in the playground. Other good finds were Steve Tuckers sterling ID bracelet, Chris Beniston and Bill Baker a Mercury dime each, Mike Maxon and Jim Ward each with a silver Roosevelt dime, Todd Mullican's war nickel and Tom Smith found a 1964-D quarter, a silver Roosevelt and a 1966 silver Canadian dime. Mike Maloney won the membership attendance drawing and got a nice Morgan dollar. There were two RAM nickels planted in the park but alas none were found and the two halves stayed in Dick's pocket.
